Former Arkansas state senator, nephew of Asa Hutchinson, sentenced in bribery scheme

A former Arkansas state senator, who’s the nephew of the state’s former governor turned 2024 presidential candidate Asa Hutchinson, was sentenced to greater than 4 years in jail Tuesday for his function in a bribery scheme. 

Jeremy Hutchinson, 48, pleaded responsible in 2019 to submitting a false tax return, conspiracy to commit federal program bribery, and conspiracy to commit federal program bribery. He was sentenced Feb. 3 to 3 years and 10 months in jail on two of the fees.

Hutchinson is certainly one of 5 former state lawmakers convicted after a federal Medicaid fraud investigation, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported.
