Gov. Newsom directs Nationwide Guard to assist fight San Francisco’s fentanyl disaster


California Gov. Gavin Newsom has directed the Nationwide Guard and California Freeway Patrol to assist fight San Francisco’s fentanyl trafficking disaster. 

On Friday, Newsom introduced an effort to have each businesses help native authorities to handle the rise in fentanyl use. 

The settlement will concentrate on “dismantling fentanyl trafficking and disrupting the availability of the lethal drug within the metropolis by holding the operators of large-scale drug trafficking operations accountable,” the Democratic governor’s workplace stated.

In 2021, Mayor London Breed issued a state of emergency for the neighborhood in an effort to handle drug overdose deaths. Town noticed a 40% bounce in overdose deaths from January by means of March.
