A girl has been charged within the arson assault reported on the Shrine of Our Girl of Guadalupe.
The shrine, situated in Des Plaines, Illinois, suffered over $78,000 in harm brought on by an intentional hearth set on the premises.
Virginia Roque-Fermin, 41, is dealing with felony costs within the arson case.
Police say they discovered Roque-Fermin close by after arriving on the scene. Officers declare the girl was rapidly strolling away from the scene with soot seen on her clothes.

“Surveillance footage depicts Roque-Fermin carrying objects akin to statues, buckets, chairs, and planter pots towards the cave/grotto space of the shrine,” the police assertion continued.
It added, “She then begins a hearth and continues to hold surrounding objects in direction of the hearth to stoke the flames. Whole harm was estimated to be over $78,000.”

The shrine is owned and maintained by the Archdiocese of Chicago. It’s a pilgrimage vacation spot for 1000’s of Catholics annually.
“Though we’re very saddened by the painful vandalism, we want that via the assistance of our group, we will reconstruct the outside Chapel of the Resurrected Christ, often known as ‘the Altar of Miracles,'” a press release on the shrine’s social media web page reads.

“Pilgrims go to for a lot of causes: some search hope, others categorical gratitude; nonetheless, all include prayers and categorical like to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” the shrine’s assertion added.
The archdiocese is soliciting donations from native Catholics to restore the harm and return the shrine to operation.
