Illinois residence invasion suspect caught after police K9 tracks him down over a mile away, punches canine, cops say


A house invasion suspect was tracked down a mile by a police Ok-9 in Illinois after allegedly breaking into a girl’s residence and beating her. 

A 36-year-old lady was on Face Time with a pal round 8:30 p.m. in her residence in Gurnee, a Chicago suburb, when Joshua Simmons, 34, appeared behind her within the video, the Lake County Sheriff’s workplace stated. 

The lady screamed and the decision disconnected, authorities stated. When deputies arrived, she had been “battered” by the intruder, investigators stated.

Simmons, a former acquaintance of the lady, pressured his method into the house and hit her within the face and neck. She declined medical therapy. Simmons’ car was discovered a block from the house. 

A police Ok-9 was used to trace down Simmons. After a few mile, he was present in a residence however refused to give up, authorities stated. The Ok-9, named Dax, bit Simmons on his arm and Simmons struck the canine, police stated.

“Simmons subsequently surrendered,” the sheriff’s workplace stated. “K9 Dax was unfazed by Simmons’ punch.”

Simmons was taken to a hospital for therapy for a canine chunk and launched to deputies. He has been charged with felony residence invasion, home battery, legal trespass to a residence, putting a police Ok-9 and resisting arrest.
